My Master’s thesis at SFU was an ethnographic study of the making of an independent documentary film. It details my efforts to get the equipment, money, and cooperation to make my first film Little Mountain, along with interviews with documentary filmmakers and information on the major funding sources at the time. The thesis is that a filmmaker needs a commitment to both form and content for an independent film to turn out well, given that they are so difficult to make.
